The French Riviera - Cannes, France

13/5/2016

While on my Mediterranean cruise on Norwegian Epic, the 2nd port of call stop was Cannes, France. It was much more of a bustling city than I imagined but still with beautiful views, sand, beaches and yes-yachts. The first thing you'll notice about Cannes its tropical look mixed with money. Palm trees line the main road along the sea, the Boulevard de la Croisette, were filled with high end designer stores and outdoor cafes.

The weather was absolutely perfect with low humidity and bright sunshine. Went in the Petit Train just 10 euros for the tour around the town with commentary in English through head phones. Taking in all the sights and going up the church at the top of the town. Excellent way to get an overview of the town. Then able to go back to explore on foot once you finish the train ride!

We had lovely lunch sharing a pizza and had this mango strudel. Yum-yum!

One of the nicest places to visit in Cannes where you can see the locals in shops, stores, and sitting at outdoor cafes is in the old town on the hill, Le Suquet. Taking the winding streets up the hill requires a little effort but is an ideal way to exercise the wonderful tastes of Cannes that you devoured at a bustling restaurant near the harbour before you decide to walk to the top of Le Suquet.

Strolled around the historical part of Cannes and explore its narrow cobblestoned streets. Most of the houses dated back to the 1600s.

The panorama at the top is breath-taking with the whole city below surrounded by the sea and the Lerins Islands.

Rue Meynadier - A narrow pedestrian street lined by historic buildings, Plenty of stores and restaurants make it a popular shopping and dining destination.

Cannes is know for glamour, celebrities, and its world-famous Cannes Film Festival, attracting celebrities from all over the world,, held every year in May. This year the 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival was held from 11 to 22 May, as we arrived on the 13 May. First time to experience the lively atmosphere and the roads were bustling with people in Cannes.

The journalists & photographers wait patiently at the front of 'red carpet' with their standby tall and short ladders.

Dinner at Taste this evening, one of the main dining which serve a wide variety of culinary delights to please every palate, Taste also offers a stylish and contemporary atmosphere.
